LOCATION: Kozala, Rijeka
AREA: 61 m2
YEAR: 2019
STATUS: Under construction
Apartment is placed in Kozala neighborhood in Rijeka city. It has three different orientations and southwest balcony with panoramic view. Young couple’s wish was to organize an „open space“ apartment with possibility to make easy and fast modifications from that to the apartment for rent with three bedrooms. Variants of spatial layout suggestions and installation preparation were made.
„Open space“ apartment consists of southwest living room with kitchen and bar, and northeast bedroom and bathroom. Between living room and bedroom is utility that becomes kitchen with a bar in variant for rent. In the entrance hall there is wardrobe and service equipment cabinet. Concept design is based on earthy tones, new designed terrazzo pattern and and parquet (modeled on the original) in contemporary design (fish bone French embroidery). Layers of earth tones, found on the walls of the entrance hall, and original terrazzo that separated the northern part of the apartment that once housed a kitchen, entry hall and bathroom, from the south where the rooms and separate living room were located, testify to the rich history of the building and were the inspiration and reason for adopting the concept design as such.
In the variant of a three-room, open space living room is separated into two rooms, utility becomes a shared kitchenette with a bar, and the third room and bathroom (northern part of the apartment) are retained as such.
